Reading- Author study

Hi!
At the moment in reading we are working on something called an author study. In this you choose an author and then research all about them and their books! You can do any sort of book, from picture books to chapter books, but most people are doing authors of children or young adult books. Basically you read as many of the author's books as you can, while researching things like the authors family, life, where they were born, age, etc. Also you need to do things like comparison of characters, charts, organizing information! The author study is lots of fun, and we can present it however we want, as long as we have the required info!

Trash 2 Fashion Rich Task
Hi Rosa here,
I would like to give you a better idea of what we are doing in this term's rich task, Trash 2 Fashion.
The first thing we did was think of several ideas in our groups, and choose 1 as the final design. We than worked on that design and published a final copy for our portfolios. All the designs have to have a story to go with them, so we worked on that. Some groups already had a story and worked around that, and some made up a story for their design. Some of us made mock-ups too see what problems the design would cause (and how to fix them!) while the groups that had planned thoroughly went on to starting to make their garments.
We will try to publish some pictures of our progress soon.

This term our rich task is Trash to Fashion, so we will be making outfits out of recycled materials.

Today we have been writing an opening sentence for a narrative story, and publishing it
on a pieice of paper with a drawing. It had to describe the setting. Some people painted theirs, some people used pastel and some people dyed!
